One of the biggest questions we are asked at the BillionDollarArtGallery is, "How can I display one picture for a long time?"
Most TVs will only allow an image to persist for about 15 seconds. This is to prevent "burn in" which happens when the phosphors in the TV are burned and the image remains forever on the TV screen. News channels now move their logos periodically to prevent them from burning into viewers' screens.
BillionDollarArtGallery includes a video in the Party Mode directory that plays a selection of paintings that display for about 3 minutes a piece. This is designed to liven up a party and to turn any TV into an artful, attractive wall space. However, we would not recommend running it constantly.
As of 2026, these are the TVs that are specifically designed for long-play images:
These TVs are intended to show artwork or photos for extended periods, with ambient sensors and low‑power modes, though they are still consumer TVs (not true 24/7 signage).
- Samsung The Frame / Frame Pro – Original art‑mode TV with matte screen, motion/light sensors, and art store; explicitly marketed for prolonged art display.
- Hisense Canvas TV (a.k.a. Canvas / NXTFRAME) – Hisense’s art‑style TV competitor with frame‑like design and art display modes.
- TCL NXTFRAME / NXTVISION art TVs – TCL’s frame‑style models that can show art when idle.
- LG Gallery / OLED evo G‑series with Gallery Mode / Gallery+ – Ultra‑slim wall‑mount OLED and QNED models with dedicated art gallery modes and new Gallery+ art service, designed to mimic framed art when not in use.
- Sony BRAVIA XR with “Living Decor” / Art Frame Gallery (via Leon frame) – Standard Sony TVs plus Leon Studio Frame and Sony Art Frame Gallery app to display curated artworks long‑term.
- Amazon Ember Art TV line – Fire TV‑based art TVs with matte screen and always‑on art mode positioned directly against Samsung The Frame.
