Samsung Frame: selecting paintings and creating a collection

Modified on Fri, Nov 29 at 12:17 AM

Special to The Samsung Frame

The Frame is unlike any other TV. It is designed to display art for prolonged periods (3 minutes and up) rather than 15 to 30 seconds on standard TVs. The information below applies ONLY to the Samsung Frame. You do NOT need a Frame subscription to use the BillionDollarArtGallery.

Overview

This process refers only to picking your own favorite paintings from the BillionDollarArtGallery. You can also play the videos and play the complete collections of the original art or the full-screen art that has been cropped to fill the screen.

To select paintings from the BillionDollarArtGallery, you will choose paintings from the BillionDollarArtGallery USB Stick and send them to your art collection. Note that the Samsung Frame refers to all images as "photos."

Step-by-Step Process

The left column of the Frame home's screen shows "Art" and "Connected Devices".  We're going to copy art from the USB Disk to the Art section.  Using the Frame controller, select Connected Devices and then USB Disk.

Choose one of two directories on the USB Disk:  Paintings Fullscreen or Paintings Art. The Fullscreen collection has been cropped to fill the screen; many Frame users prefer art that fills the screen. Of course, most fine art was not designed for TV screens: if you want the full art image, choose the other directory.

After choosing a directory, filter the the album by Photos. NOTE: The Frame considers all images "photos."

Now choose Options and Send to Art. You will have a chance to select which pieces of art AFTER choosing Send to Art.

Tap the Select button on your remote for each image that you want to send. A checkmark appears for confirmation. Then choose the Send button.

The images will be sent to the Photos album in your Art section.  To see them, select Go to My Photos in the confirmation.

When you enter the My Photos album, you will see the paintings that you selected for your Samsung Frame. Choose Display All to play your paintings.
