To some degree, the BillionDollarArtGallery is limited by the software available on televisions, which is still relatively primitive – even for “smart” TVs. TVs are designed to be display devices, rather than computers that enable you to search, sort, and provide many display options.
However, you can use your computer to create your own collections of paintings.
- Insert your BillionDollarArtGallery into your computer’s USB slot.
- Search for paintings you want to display. In the example below, we are searching for “van gogh” in Microsoft Windows Explorer. Van Gogh is a very popular painter, but the BillionDollarArtGallery limits any single artist to six paintings because it is a survey of great Western art, not a collection of the most “popular” paintings.
- Copy the paintings you want. It is important that you copy the paintings rather than cut them because you want to leave the originals in place for later use. In the example above, you would highlight, and copy these six paintings.
- Create a directory on your BillionDollarArtGallery stick called, for instance, \VanGogh or \MyPaintings
- Click into your new directory and paste the files that you just copied. If you are not in the directory you have created, your files will not appear there.
- If you are creating a collection, you can copy and paste more files into your directory as required.
- Your BillionDollarArtGallery will now have a directory with the files you have collected. Insert it into your TV, and tell your TV to play the files in that directory.
