To some degree, the BillionDollarArtGallery is limited by the software available on televisions, which is relatively primitive – even for “smart” TVs. TVs are designed to be display devices rather than computers that enable you to search, sort, and display with many options, so the BillionDollarArtGallery provides slideshow and video content that can display on virtually all TVs, although some TVs cannot display videos from the USB port.
There are three ways to create your own collections of BillionDollarArtGallery art:
1. Create your own collection of your favorite BillionDollarArtGallery art
You can use your computer to create your own collections of paintings by following this procedure.
- Insert your BillionDollarArtGallery into your computer’s USB slot.
- Search for paintings you want to display. In the example below, we are searching for “van gogh” in Microsoft Windows Explorer. Van Gogh is a very popular painter, but the BillionDollarArtGallery limits any single artist to six paintings because it is a survey of great Western art, not a collection of the most “popular” paintings.
- Copy the paintings you want. It is important that you copy the paintings rather than cut them because you want to leave the originals in place for later use. In the example above, you would highlight, and copy these six paintings.
- Create a directory on your BillionDollarArtGallery stick called, for instance, \VanGogh or \MyPaintings
- Click into your new directory and paste the files that you just copied. If you are not in the directory you have created, your files will not appear there.
- If you are creating a collection, you can copy and paste more files into your directory as required.
- Your BillionDollarArtGallery will now have a directory with the files you have collected. Insert it into your TV, and tell your TV to play the files in that directory.
2. Create your own video
A video will enable you to display art longer than the time allowed by my most TV slideshows. For example, the BillionDollarArtGallery Party Mode video displays each painting for three minutes while most TVs will only display images in a slideshow for about 20 seconds. The exception is the Samsung Frame, which is designed for longer display.
3. Memsender will customize a video and slideshow for you
Mail a list of up to 30 paintings in the BillionDollarArtGallery, your preferred order of presentation, the length of time you would like each one to display, your return mailing address, and a check for $40 made out to Memsender Inc. You will receive a new BillionDollarArtGallery memory stick with two directories: (1) The paintings in a slideshow and (2) A video of your paintings. Allow two weeks for processing and mailing.
Please also include the make and model of your TV, so that we can send the proper format of your memory stick. Most TVs accept FAT32, but some newer TVs require NTFS.
Mail to: Memsender Inc., Box 92, Titusville, NJ 08560.
