The Sony XR Help Guide is online here:  https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/iusltn1/v1/en-003/04-01.html

Step-by-step procedures to play USB content are not very detailed, but Sony's info is reproduced below.

The Reference Guide is attached to this FAQ and can be downloaded here:  https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/5024/db65e7deb459f2b1a68be2aa09d4584c/50245401M.pdf

Sony XR TVs may require a third-party app to play video files.

If necessary, we recommend the free VLC video player which is reliable and universally available in app stores.  See:  https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

The USB ports on the TV support FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS file systems. Because most TVs use the FAT32 standard, the BillionDollarArtGallery is formatted for FAT32, though NTFS versions are available by special order.

Installation

Install the BillionDollarArtGallery in USB port 1 or 2, which are designed for USB 2.0.

The Sony Remote Control

Your remote control should look like the one pictured below.
Do not use the cable remote to access the USB port because cable TV devices are not designed to support non-cable content.

The included remote control, as well as the button icons, vary depending on your model/country/region.

There is a microphone built onto the remote control. The microphone has a circular shape and is placed at the top left corner of the remote. There is a microphone LED at the top of the circle and the microphone is at the bottom of the circle. The microphone LED illuminates when the microphone is active. At the top right corner of the remote control, there is a POWER button. The POWER button turns the TV on and off. Below the POWER button are four rows of Number buttons. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are on the top row. 4, 5, 6 are on the second row, and 5 has a tactile dot. 7, 8, and 9 are on the third row. The Dot button, zero button, and Applications button are on the fourth row. The Dot button is used with the 0 to 9 buttons to select digital channels. The Applications button displays a list of installed apps. There are two large, horizontal rectangular buttons placed side by side below the Number buttons. The left button is for accessing the Google Play Store. The right button is for the Netflix application. Depending on your region/country or TV model, this button may not be available. Below these two buttons are four capsule-shaped Color buttons. Starting from the left, these are Yellow, Blue, Red and Green. These do different things in different menus. Below the Color buttons are five round buttons placed in two rows. On the top row, the two buttons from the left are the GUIDE and DVR buttons. The GUIDE button displays the digital program guide for the TV or Cable/Satellite box. The DVR button displays the DVR's list of recorded programs. On the bottom row, the three buttons from the left are the INPUT, Google Assistant/Microphone and Quick Settings buttons. The INPUT button displays and selects the input source, etc. The Google Assistant/Microphone button is used for the Google Assistant and other voice features such as voice search. When using voice commands, speak into the microphone at the upper left corner of the remote control. The Quick Settings button displays a set of controls to preset picture, sound, etc. Below these buttons, there are two interlocking rings of buttons. The inner ring has four tactile bumps, used for navigating up, down, left and right. At the center is the Enter button which is the raised bump. Below the ring, there are three round buttons. Starting from the left, these are the BACK, TV, and HOME buttons. The BACK button returns you to the previous screen. The TV button switches to a TV channel or input from any application. The HOME button displays the main menu of the TV. Below these buttons, there is a long Volume button on the left. Press the upper part of the Volume button to increase the volume. Press the lower part of the same button to decrease the volume. On the right side, there is a long Channel button, with a tactile dot on the upper part. Press the upper part of the Channel button to increase the channel number or press the lower part of the same button to decrease the channel number. Between these two buttons, there is a round JUMP button on the top, and MUTE button on the bottom. Use JUMP to jump back and forth between two channels or inputs. The TV alternates between the current channel or input and the last channel or input that was selected. Use MUTE to mute the sound. Press again to restore the sound. The accessibility shortcut service can also be turned on or off by pressing and holding this button. Below the Volume and Channel buttons are three rows of three buttons placed side by side. The first row has the AUDIO, Subtitle, and HELP buttons. There is a tactile dot on the AUDIO button. Use the AUDIO button to select a multilingual source or dual sound for the program currently being viewed. The Subtitle button turns subtitles on or off. The HELP button opens the Help menu. On the second row are the Rewind, PLAY and Fast forward buttons. There is a tactile dot on the PLAY button. Use these buttons to control your content. On the third row are the Record, Pause, and Display buttons. Use the Record button to record the current program with the DVR. The Pause button pauses your content. The Display button displays information about the channel/program/input you are viewing.
