We are still investigating the Promethean platform.
In theory, this device should display art from the BillionDollarArtGallery, which is formatted for FAT32, and includes both JPG files of each painting plus a video or videos (industry-standard MP4) that plays music, paintings, and captions together.
Like televisions, Promethean probably provides apps that display slideshows of JPG images or display videos.
Promethean screens display in 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is half the resolution of the BillionDollarArtGallery files at 3840 x 2160, so BillionDollarArtGallery files should display well on Promethean devices.
We asked Promethean for further information, and they wrote:
"As long as you can download the pictures from the USB stick to the panel, you should be able to display the picture of the paintings. This is the easier way to access and display the picture of the painting.
Any of our ActivPanels version 5 and above (ActivPanel 5, ActivPanel 6, ActivPanel Elements series Nickel and Titanium, ActivPanel 9) have a built-in media player that can read from a USB. They all use an Android based system."
We interpret this to mean that Promethean systems can also display the BillionDollarArtGallery video. Because Android operating systems often require an app to display video, Promethean users may want to download the free, popular VLC Media Player from the Android app store:
