Why won't my Roku run PDF files?

Modified on Fri, Jul 14, 2023 at 3:09 PM

A user reports that a Roku TV produces an error message, "Will not run PDF files."

We include PDF files for "help" files that can be read on a computer. This is the first time we have heard of a TV reacting negatively to PDF files, and we have tested with many Roku televisions and devices. (We may discontinue PDF files in the future as a result. All support material is available at billiondollarartgallery.com/help )

There are several ways to address this error:

1. If possible, accept the error message and continue. PDFs are not required to run the BillionDollarArtGallery.

2. Insert the BillionDollarArtGallery in your computer, and remove the PDFs.

If you load your BillionDollarArtGallery in a computer, you will probably find a PDF file in the main directory and more PDFs in the \Support directory. (We say "probably" because there have been multiple versions of the BillionDollarArtGallery.)

You can move these files to your computer (and delete them on your BillionDollarArtGallery) if they are preventing your TV from running the BillionDollarArtGallery. The PDFs are only there for additional help.

Your file directory may look like this or may contain all the JPGs (paintings) and MP4s (videos) in the main directory.

The files that most people want to run are the Video files that contain "Party Mode" or the Video with all paintings, music and captions.
